SpongeBob SquarePants, created by Stephen Hillenburg, began on Nickelodeon in 1999; SpongeBob lives in Bikini Bottom.

Hillenburg drew on his own educational comic about sea life, The Intertidal Zone.

A collaboration with Lady Death, the comic heroine, in drawings credited to James O’Barr, creator of The Crow.

Lady Death is a comic heroine created by Brian Pulido; she first appeared in Evil Ernie #1 in 1991.

Her own series began at Chaos! Comics in 1994.
