Wham-O is a toy company founded in Southern California in 1948 by Richard Knerr and Arthur “Spud” Melin; it makes the Hula Hoop, the Slip ’N Slide and the Super Ball.

The Frisbee began as Fred Morrison’s Pluto Platter, which Wham-O started selling in 1957.
